& District Canine Society Open Show. Judge: Mrs M. Lade
(Hunterdean, Mantondean)This was a very succesful day for
us. Messano Minnie The Moocher
(Roxy) was awarded a 2nd in puppy at her first show in a very
strong class. Messano Jitterbug,
Mopi was awarded 1st in a large Open Bitch class, Best Bitch
and Best Of Breed.
The Large Munsterlander puppy bitch Ashlowrick Fluss Chet
(Ellie), handled by Julie for my Aunt Gill Patrick, was awarded
Best Puppy by Mrs M. Day (Alfriston) and then went on to achieve
Reserve Best Puppy In Show under Mrs A. Lacey (Weetonone).

Newton
Aycliffe Open Show. We did not attend a show as exhibitors
this weekend, instead Julie judged at the Newton Aycliffe
show. Julie awarded Best of Breed to Towers' Alibren Marina
and Best Puppy to Towers' Alibren Misteeq. The entry number
was not large, but the quality was excellent. |

Golden Retriever Club Championship Show. Judge: Mrs C. Gilbert
(Okus). Ch Ritzilyn Barrow
Boy For Messano, 1st Veteran Dog, Best Veteran In Show
(Mrs P. Edwards, Lovehayne). Last year Jamie (Messano
Blueprint) was awarded BVIS, so it was very nice to
bring the cup home in consecutive years.

The puppies are two weeks of age today and we have new homes
arranged for all the puppies.

Maisie's
puppies arrived today! She had 6 dogs and 4 bitches by Caesarian
section. All the puppies survived and although she is very
tired, Maisie is doing well.

A very
proud boast for the Messano kennel! Yesterday at the Finnish
Golden Ring club championship show, Messano High Society
(Friia) was awarded her 3rd CC and Best Opposite Sex by
Penny Gowland (Remington). This result means that if Friia
passes her working test later this year, she will be a Finnish
Champion! Friia is a Maisie daughter (Messano Eager Beaver)
and her father is Champion Xanthos Tom Foolery JW. Congratulations
to Friias's owners, Marie Sippu, Kiste Heikkinen and Tiina
Rantaharju.

we were entered at The Large Munsterlander Championship show.
The judge was Jane Cule and Julie was awarded 1st in Post
Graduate bitch handling Toberworry Peppers for Ashlowrick.

We did
not enter any shows this week-end because Julie judged at
the Mountsorrel & District Open Show on Sunday. Her
Best Of Breed was Watchorn's Straland Starlet & Best
Puppy Wright's Merrimoor Fire & Ice.
The Messano kennel was well represented at Great Yarmouth
Gorleston & District Canine Society show, with Jenny
Bowden's Messano Indian Gold winning a 1st in Post Graduate
and Nadine Barber's Messano Golden Opportunity winning 1st
in Open, his second succesive Best Of Breed & Gundog
Group 4, well done!

Keeper
was entered for the 'Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen Award'
and passed first time! We were very pleased because we have
never taught him down stays or the recall, but he was a good
boy and made us proud. We will probably enter him for the
Silver award at a future show. |

with this result as there were 30 dogs in this class. Messano
Keepsake was also entered, but due to a bad accident on the
M6 which delayed us by 2 hours, Keeper missed his class. Julie
also had success with Pepper, the Large Munsterlander that
she owns in partnership with Gill Patrick (Ashlowrick). She
was awarded a 1st in Post Graduate Bitch, in a class of 20.

Another
sad day for us all. Today we had to say Good-bye to Briar
at almost 13 years of age. She joins her daughter Teazle and
her mother Bracken at the 'Rainbow Bridge'. She is survived
by her litter brother Jamie, who at the moment is enjoying
very good health. With all the pleasures of owning a dog,
it must be accepted that there will also be sadness, but it
never gets any easier to say good-bye. |

has started on a sad note for us. We unfortunately had to
make the unpleasant decision to let Teazle (Messano
Chorus Girl) join Amber & Bracken due to a short
but quick deteriation in her health. She was only 10 years
old and will be greatly missed by both dogs and humans at
Messano. She was a beautiful blonde girl and was one of
the first puppies sired by the great Champion Ritzilyn Cockney
Robin.
