Today we trimmed the puppies toenails for the first time....

....this must be done regularly, or they will scratch their
mother's tummy when they are feeding.

This
video clip shows a blonde male having his nails trimmed.
As you can see, it's perfectly harmless!

This photo shows the proud mum's head. We think that she is
very pretty!

These next two photos show the puppies sleeping after feeding,
they look like they have been colour-graded, but it was just
coincidental!...

...a close-up showing that the puppies have almost got their
black pigment. When they are born it is bright pink and
changes to black within the first week.

With our last few litters, we have used a technique known
as "The Superdog Programme". This a series of
stimulation of the puppies, where different sensations are
introduced to the puppies as their neurological systems
are developing.The
reason for this, is that it is claimed to make the puppies
healthier and more intelligent as they grow-up. The puppies
seem to enjoy the sensation, especially when it has been
done a few times, so we decided to continue with this litter.
The details of this programme can be found by clicking
here, it is well worth spending some time reading the
document. We have taken a series of photos of the puppies
going through their 'exercises', which correspond with the
text in the above document. It only a few seconds per puppy,
and we think that it is worth the time spent.
09/07/2008
The first exercise is to hold the puppy vertically head-up
for 5-seconds.....
09/07/2008
....followed by vertically head-down for 5-seconds.....
09/07/2008
....the next exercise is to lay the puppy on its back for
5-seconds.....
09/07/2008
....this is followed by laying it tummy-down on a damp towel.
09/07/2008
The last stimulation is to gently stroke a paw with a cotton
bud.
Does
it help the puppies to become more healthy and intelligent?
Well, the puppies from previous litters that have been given
this stimulation certainly seem to be bright and intelligent
and have fitted into their new homes with no reported problems,
so we think that it is well worth the extra effort.
We have
also made a short video of one of the puppies being given
their stimuations. We hope that you enjoy it!
