We purchased
our first Golden Retriever as a pet in 1983. Our interest in showing
began in a similar way to many peoples, we attended obedience classes
with 'Amber of Saint Margarets' and became interested in the ringcraft
training that was running in conjunction with the obedience classes.
Although 'Amber' was successful in a modest way, we very soon realised
that she was no showgirl. We decided to add another Golden to our
family and in 1985, 'Barklands X-Planation of Messano' joined us.
We bred our first litter in 1988, and 'Bracken' is in the pedigree
of all our dogs that we have bred. Our second litter, born in 1990,
contained our 'Blue Babies', 'Messano Blueprint' 'Jamie' and 'Messano
Blue Savannah', 'Briar'. These two were responsible for our early
success, especially 'Jamie'. His show career included a Res. CC,
5 x BIS and 5 x RBIS. He also won dozens of BOB's and the ECGRC
points trophy on two occasions. He had brains as well as beauty
and was the holder of a SGWC. He also sired many beautiful puppies
and was a 'Local Legend' for the superb temperament that was passed
to his offspring.
In 1996 we had
the honour of owning the winner of the Dog World / Pedigree Chum
Top Golden Retriever with 'Ch Ritzilyn Barrow Boy for Messano' 'Boysie'
made many of our dreams a reality, and he sired many puppies that
inherited his happy, extrovert nature and good looks. Boysie is
either the Father, Grand-Father or Great Grandfather of all the
bitches currently living at Messano, we owe him and Bracken, who
is also in all the bitches pedigrees, a debt of gratitude for providing
us with such sound genes to breed from.
Please look
at our golden family and e-mail us if you would like any further
information.
