This is a diary of events for 2008

We have had a full and varied program of events lined up for the year, including a four night break at the Redwood Hotel and Country Club - Bristol in May.

Situated in 16 acres of woodland countryside, it was the perfect location to relax, unwind and discover all those treasures in and around the county of Somerset.

Tyntesfield and Lacock Abbey were just two of the locations we visited during our packed five day itinerary.

Be sure to visit the excellent moving panoramic view of the bridge on the Clifton Suspension Bridge page, especially the view
taken at night, also the large photographs shown in the Norway pages are absolutely stunning.

In January our guest speaker was John Alexander. His theme for the evening covered the 'National Parks'.

In February the talk described the Farne Islands and was given by Jeff Clarke.

March is of course the month for the Annual General Meeting where the business of the Association for the coming twelve months was discussed, followed by cheese and wine.

In April we had another guest speaker, this time it was Mr G. Bartley who took us on a virtual tour of Norway's Fairytale Fjords.

May was our annual outing (see above or select May in the calendar at the left hand side)

May also saw the beginning of our full day coach outings, opening with a trip to Lyme Park near Disley, Stockport.

In June we had a coach outing to Harlow Carr Gardens and Harrogate.

Also this month, we had our coffee morning at Church Street, Frodsham.

In July, we had an evening visit and talk at Daresbury Church, well known for its Alice in Wonderland and the Rev Dodgson connection.

Also this month, we had a coach outing to Dalemain Hall, Penrith in Cumbria, The smooth Georgian front belies the medieval heritage of Dalemain, home to the same family since 1679. The house is built around an inner courtyard, and the interior rooms are a charming mixture of formal Georgian rococo and panelled Elizabethan.

In August, we had another coach outing, this time to Llangollen and Chirk Castle.

September. We visited Renishaw Hall near Sheffield. The house is set in over 300 acres of beautiful parklands, including seven acres of formal gardens in Italianate style planted by Sir George Sitwell in 1895.

September also begins the first of our autumn lectures, this time by Mrs J Allen-Hitch who will give a talk about 'Life as a Hotel Inspector'.

October - We have a lecture by Michael Murphy entitled ‘Overhead and Underground Railways in Liverpool’.

November – ‘A Journey down the River Dee’ will be the lecture this month given by Hugh Biggs.

December brings us to the last of the events of the year with a Christmas Celebration at the Frodsham Community Centre.
