Tourist information for the Farne Islands - or click on any photograph.
The Farne Islands lie one to four and a half miles off the beautiful coastline of North Northumberland.
The islands are home to many different types of seabirds including guillemots,
kittiwakes, shags, puffins and four different types of tern to name but a few.
The islands also have one of the largest colonies of Atlantic Grey Seals in
Northern Europe.
The Farne Islands were latterly made famous by Grace Darling, daughter of the
lighthouse keeper on Longstone Island, who on the 7th of September, 1838,
rescued nine survivors from the paddle steamer 'Forfarshire', which ran aground
on the nearby Big Harcars Rock during a violent storm.
