An airy walk following the sandstone ridge that rises dramatically from the central Cheshire plain, including rock outcrops, woodlands, castles and historic churches. There are some short, steep sections and the trail tends to pass close by but not through villages and towns, so shops and services are often a short walk off the route. The trail was first opened in 1974 but extended to its current length in the late 1990s.
